Description

Good boy and quick learner

12/27/11 - Rambo recently went to a new foster home in New York. Our volunteer that went to meet him prior to his move indicated that Rambo is a great boy who is a quick learner. He is very motivated by toys. Included are two new pictures.

12/16/11 - Rambo is a good boy and will listen when told come or off. He still needs a lot of work with his leash training and basic commands. Rambo's foster home is working on his housebreaking and is teaching Rambo that the crate is not such a bad thing. He does like to gobble his food quickly, so his foster mom uses some tricks to get him to slow down. Rambo doesn't like to be alone - it makes him nervous. He will need a home willing to work with him or someone who is home often to alleviate his fears.

Rambo loves to run around with a ball in his mouth and bark! When he is bored or he catches a glimpse of his tail, he chases it to the point that he loses control of body movement. It may be cute for a second, but in reality - it’s something he did to kill time in a bad situation so his foster family makes him stop and plays with him to distract him from it. He loves to play fetch, although he doesn’t always bring it back to you - but he will bring it somewhere close enough for you to walk over to him.

Rambo has just started to give kisses and approaches anyone he comes in contact with. He does the occasional jumping up, but when you correct him - he gets it. He has been around children 8 years and up and has done fine. Rambo does not engage in play with the other boxer yet in his foster home. He would do fine as an only dog where he can get all the attention that he has surely missed his whole life. If you are committed to working on basis commands and manners, and can be around for Rambo most of the day - this beautiful boy is in need of you.

12/1/11 - Rambo is a 2 year old male boxer who was surrendered to the shelter because his owner did not have the time to devote to him. He is in need of a home where he will get lots of attention and exercise. Rambo is partially housebroken and needs to be crated when left alone. He likes other dogs, plays well with children, and loves car rides. Rambo will be going to his foster home soon and we will update his page once we know more about him.

Then fill out an adoption application

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time. AABR's policy is to bring all dogs up to date on vaccinations and any needed veterinary care, including spay or neuter if not already altered, before adoption. Please note that all descriptions of a particular dog's interactions with cats, other dogs, and people of all ages are based on reported behavior only and are not representations that those behaviors will be the case in all situations.

We realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on may be adopted before you're approved. Should your first choices already have found their forever homes, please let us know which other dogs you are interested in by emailing us at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com. Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home. That is what we are good at. Be happy for the ones who have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

Adoptions Fee: The adoption fee is $375 unless otherwise noted specifically.
